As a first-generation American, author Tammy Borden grew up hearing her mother's first-hand accounts of coming of age under Hitler's reign. She documented those extraordinary life experiences, never imagining a personal project to preserve those memories would turn into a novel that has spanned the globe.
Waltraud: A True Story of Growing Up in Nazi Germany, a World War II novel, shines a rare light on this dark period in history from inside Hitler’s Germany, and introduces an unsung heroine who refuses to give in to an ideology of hate. Inspired by true accounts of the real Waltraud, this historical novel is more than a story of war. It is a testament to resilience, unbreakable love, and the strength of the human spirit.
